MOTORSPORT ENTERTAINMENT AT ITS BEST

Monster Trucks and X Air are BACK this 2025!!

At the Repco D1NZ National Drifting Championship, we are dedicated to adding fan value and creating unforgettable experiences in our events moving forward. One of the exciting new additions this coming season is the inclusion of Monster Truck stunt shows at select rounds. These powerful machines will perform jaw-dropping feats, adding an extra layer of excitement and spectacle to our already thrilling drifting events. Fans can look forward to witnessing incredible jumps and crushing displays and one-off stunt attempts, ensuring that every event is packed with adrenaline and entertainment.

We are also expanding our focus on community engagement through our school involvement programs. By partnering with local schools, we aim to bring the world of drifting to younger generations, sparking their interest and passion for motorsport. These programs include school visits where students can meet drivers, learn about the mechanics of drifting, and even experience the excitement first-hand with ride-alongs. Our goal is to inspire and educate, ensuring that the next generation is not only entertained but also empowered with knowledge about the sport + it helps kids love drifting and Monster trucks!

Adding to the excitement, we are thrilled to announce the return of the X Air Action Sports Festival, coinciding with a true ANZAC weekend battle of action sports. This festival will feature a diverse range of extreme sports, including BMX, Skateboarding, Freestyle motocross and Big Air alongside NZ’s biggest drifting event- Baypark. By combining these action-packed sports, we are creating a dynamic and immersive atmosphere that appeals to fans of all ages.

The ANZAC weekend will be a celebration of both competition and camaraderie, providing an entertainment experience for everyone in attendance.

HYDROGEN AND MOTORSPORT COLLIDE IN CHRISTCHURCH TECH HUB

A special night happened for D1NZ in 2024 with Christchurch City Council announcing the world's first competition drift car that will be completely hydrogen-powered.

D1NZ partnering with Fabrum and alongside our long-time series sponsor Link ECU the wheels are in motion for the Toyota A90 Supra. Development on engine and safety is well underway with the chosen engine a 6Port B58 Toyota engine. The car is currently at Link ECU Headquarters with the goal of debut in 2025 at D1NZ with a special guest driver.

The Drift Judging Replay System represents a paradigm shift in how drifting competitions are evaluated. Developed in response to the sport's growing popularity and the demand for fairer judging, this system leverages cutting-edge technology to provide judges with unparalleled insights into each drift.

How It Works

  1. Multi-Angle Cameras: High-definition cameras strategically placed around the track capture every angle of the drift. These cameras ensure that judges have access to comprehensive footage from start to finish.

  2. Slow-Motion Playback: The ability to slow down replays allows judges to scrutinise crucial moments frame by frame. This feature is especially valuable for assessing the initiation of the drift, angle consistency, and transitions.

  3. Overlay Technology: Advanced computer algorithms can overlay data onto the replay footage in real-time. This includes speed, g-force, and even the driver's inputs such as throttle and steering angle. Such data enriches the judging process by providing objective metrics alongside subjective assessments.
